Azimghur Stages

The Azimghur Stages are promoted by Bath Motor Club and normally run in July. The event is based at Azimghur Airfield, Colerne and tends to be a fast event with wide, fast sections of track and some more demanding tight and twisty sections.

With Adrian at his wife's degree graduation ceremony during the 2001 event, the hot seat was taken by Duncan for the second time. This picture shows Chris and Duncan "flat over crest."
After a great day's rallying, the boys were 13th Overall and won their Class convincingly.

Interestingly, the following year the stages were redesigned to remove the crest from the route, a shame for competitors but given the air-gap under the Nova, this was probably a good idea!

CARnival Stages

The CARnival is a weekend to remember! Promoted jointly by Farnborough and Sutton & Cheam Motor Clubs, the event runs at Dalton barracks, near Abingdon. The weekend comprises a sprint, an autotest and the rally and runs over a weekend in June. Camping on the site and non-stop entertainment make this event one of the most enjoyable events of the season.

Here are Chris and Adrian in their 1600c Nova GTE on the 2002 event. The first picture was taken just before a huge downpour of rain that turned the airfield into a muddy swimming pool. The lads fought on well despite a few dodgy moments passing through deep water on slick tyres, won their Class and finished the day 18th Overall.

The 2004 CAR-nival Stages was an amazing event for the team after a "stonking drive", Chris and Adrian were a fantastic 2nd overall. After the first stage, chris and Adrian were 3rd overall, despite 15 seconds lost in a spin. The lads were second after the third stage and held this excellent position to the end of the day.

The 2005 CAR-nival Stages were a slightly frustrating day. Straight from 1st Overall at Portreath, the lads were very optimistic going into this rally. 3rd Overall was a fabulous result against some very fast opposition but 3rd was always going to be a disappointment. Tests back in the workshop identified some general wear-and-tear problems on the 4-wheel-drive system and also the brakes, so the result was more impressive against the backdrop of a non-optimum car.

How impressive are the first two pictures?!! The first one was taken on SS1 and shows the Metro slightly airborne off a speedramp. The second picture shows the same location on SS2. Despite a broken bonnet obscuring the view, the car has far more air between it and the ground and shows the teamwork and commitment of Chris and Adrian.

City of Truro

The City of Truro is promoted by Truro and District Motor Club and is held at Predannack Airfield, on the Lizard. This event runs in October and the weather can make for some entertaining conditions!

Tour of Cornwall

Our main local event, the Tour of Cornwall jointly promoted by the Cornish Motorclubs, is a prestigeous two-day event that attracts the very best crews from all over the UK. It is also an event where we attract a great deal of local interest and the support is always a real boost.

The first picture shows Chris and Adrian in their Nova on the 2002 event. This picture shows the lads in Penhale on the Saturday afternoon and they went on to win their class the next day.

The second picture shows the lads in the Nova on the 2003 event. This picture was taken by Mark Sims of RallyGallery and shows the Nova in Predannack Airfield on the Saturday morning. The lads had a near disaster just after this picture was taken when a driveshaft snapped on a blind crest at around 100mph. They recovered to win the Tour of Cornwall Trophy Rally outright the following day.

Here are the pictures from the first event with the Metro 6R4, the 2004 Tour of Cornwall. After an eventful weekend and some very changeable weather, Chris and Adrian ended the weekend in 9th place overall and 2nd in their class.

Here are the pictures from the 2005 Tour of Cornwall. Despite a retirement on Special Stage 19, out of 20, Chris and Adrian are up-beat and delighted to have set some extremely competitive times throughout the event.
